Our yarns
Organic cotton: Piccolo and Tempo
Piccolo (sport-weight 4-ply) and Tempo (DK) are 100% organic Egyptian cotton, certified to the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). Beautifully soft, and perfect for even delicate skin.
Recycled denim: Siena
Siena is spun from old jeans: 95% recycled post-consumer denim, with 5% other plant fibres. It's a sport-weight 4-ply yarn, certified to the Recycled Claim Standard (RCS).
Recycled bottles and cotton: Marlin
Marlin is a light chunky chainette yarn made in Italy from recycled plastic bottles (52%) and cotton left over from textile production (48%). It is certified to the Recycled Claim Standard (RCS) and made under the 4Sustainability chemical-management programme.
What the labels mean
- GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard): checks the whole chain from seed to finished yarn. That means organic farming without synthetic pesticides, limits on dyes and chemicals, and fair, safe working conditions.
- RCS (Recycled Claim Standard): independently tracks recycled content from the waste source to the finished yarn.
- PETA-Approved Vegan: no animal fibres, no animal-derived dyes and no animal-derived processing.

Yes. Every Verde yarn is plant-based and PETA-Approved Vegan. None contains wool, silk or any other animal fibre, and none uses animal-derived dyes.
Which Verde yarns are organic?
Piccolo and Tempo are 100% organic Egyptian cotton, certified to the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). Piccolo is a sport-weight 4-ply and Tempo is a DK weight.
What is Siena yarn made from?
Siena is made from recycled post-consumer denim: 95% recycled denim and 5% other plant-based fibres. It is a sport-weight 4-ply yarn certified to the Recycled Claim Standard (RCS), about 310m per 100g, for 2.5mm to 3.5mm needles or hooks.
What is Marlin yarn made from?
Marlin is 52% recycled polyester from post-consumer plastic bottles and 48% pre-consumer cotton textile waste. It is a light chunky chainette yarn made in Italy, certified to the Recycled Claim Standard (RCS), about 100m per 100g.
Which Verde yarn is best for baby clothes or sensitive skin?
Piccolo and Tempo, Verde's GOTS-certified organic cotton yarns. Both are beautifully soft and perfect for even delicate skin. Piccolo (sport-weight 4-ply) suits finer baby garments, and Tempo (DK) knits up faster.
