When you need to decrease on the purl side of the fabric, the P2tog is an easy option for a stitch that leans right on the knit side and left on the purl side. This works just like a regular purl but you insert the needle through 2 stitches at the same time.
Here's how you do it :
Written instructions:
- Work up to the point of the decrease. If utilising this at the edge of the project, work a couple of stitches before the decrease.
-
Insert your right needle into both the first and second stitch as though to purl.
-
Wrap the yarn around anti clockwise as with a normal purl stitch and bring the needle tip up and pull the yarn through.
- Continue to slide the 2 worked stitches off the needle.
- Decrease complete!
